In your role as General Ledger Accountant (m/f/d)  you will support in creating efficient accounting processes for our Netherlands Operations, take responsibility (as a team) for the P&L and BS, and also assist in a myriad of finance and tax related topics.. You will be working side by side with our senior accountant and the Head of Finance. The Dutch operations are independent yet interconnected with our sister company in Germany where the FP&A (controlling), AR teams are located, AP is based in both DE and NL 

As we are a growing business there are always adhoc challenges and initiatives that you will have the opportunity to contribute to with other teams across our finance department. Within our Finance department it is actually encouraged to identify and take ownership of such initiatives.

Job Description

  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly and annual financial statements according to Dutch GAAP and IFRS
  • Actively participate in the month-end-close process, ensuring deadlines are met
  • You will work closely with the current team on the day to day, balance sheet, profit and loss, reconciling, bank statements, prepaid expense etc, taking ownership of some of these tasks over time
  • As our team is located across both Berlin and Amsterdam you will work closely with our German based colleagues on areas such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and control topics, 
  • Post journal entries, including payroll booking
  • Reconcile all subledger and GL accounts as well as intercompany clearing
  • Track and maintain fixed assets ledger
  • Participate on quarterly VAT reporting
  • Support in year-end audits
  • Help improving the quality and efficiency of accounting processes
  • Assist internal stakeholders with financial information needs

Qualifications

  • A university degree in accounting, auditing or comparable field
  • Sound knowledge of Dutch GAAP and IFRS
  • Several (1-3) years of professional experience in a similar role, preferably on e-commerce and/or an international fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Dutch VAT and CIT preparation is desirable
  • Experience in ERP systems, preferably Oracle Fusion is a plus
  • Independent, collaborative and proactive with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills in English, Dutch is a plus
