Job Description
Role: Senior Geologist
Location: Weld Range, Western Australia FIFO ex-Perth
Roster: 8/6
Type: Permanent, Full-time
As Senior Geologist, you will play a key role in supporting Fenix's growth by leading mine geology activities and providing technical expertise to maximise ore recovery, maintain product quality, and achieve production targets. Working closely with Mining, Survey, Planning, and Processing teams, you will oversee grade control, geological modelling, reconciliation, and data management while contributing to mine planning activities.

About the Role
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will:
- Lead and manage daily mine geology activities to support operational and strategic objectives.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop the Mine Geologist, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Oversee grade control programs, ore delineation, and geological mapping activities.
- Ensure the collection, validation, interpretation, and reporting of geological data to a high standard.
- Provide geological input into short, medium, and long-term mine planning processes.
- Coordinate ship builds to achieve shipping specifications
- Monitor orebody performance and reconcile geological models against mining outcomes.
- Identify opportunities to optimise ore recovery, minimise dilution, and improve geological understanding.
- Manage geological databases, QA/QC processes, and data integrity systems.
- Collaborate closely with Mining, Survey, Metallurgy, and Planning teams to achieve production targets.
- Support resource development initiatives, including drilling programs and geological modelling.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- A tertiary qualification in Geology, Geoscience, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in mine geology within an open pit mining environment, preferably with iron ore exposure.
- Demonstrated experience in grade control, geological modelling, and resource interpretation.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience, including mentoring junior geologists.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with geological software packages such as Leapfrog, Vulcan, Deswik, Surpac, GCX or similar.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
