Job Description

As an Applied AI Engineer, you will drive AI programs, lead engagements, and independently develop innovative solutions that enhance decision-making, automate workflows, and create growth.

You will own the Software Engineering development of AI-powered applications, from solution design to deployment, leveraging pre-trained machine learning and generative AI models. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, proactively identifying opportunities to integrate AI capabilities into Experian's products and services while optimizing performance and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and implement cutting‑edge AI technologies and frameworks.
  • Assist in developing and deploying AI models, including supporting the deployment of machine learning models.
  • Build and maintain scalable AI pipelines and automate model training workflows in Python using MLFlow, Databricks, SageMaker, or equivalent.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align machine learning solutions with business needs and objectives.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and trends in AI development to continuously enhance our technology stack.
  • Write clean, well‑documented code following best practices for testing and version control.
    • Utilize AI coding assistants and write effective prompts for team use.
  • Test and validate AI models to ensure accuracy and reliability in real‑world scenarios.
  • Support model monitoring and debugging to improve reliability and performance.
  • Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and knowledge‑sharing sessions to support team growth.

Day‑to‑Day Activities

In this role, you will work closely with senior ML engineers and data scientists across various stages of the machine learning lifecycle, including:

  • Data Preprocessing: Cleaning and preparing data to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Model Training: Assisting in training machine learning models and experimenting with algorithms and hyperparameters.
  • Performance Evaluation: Evaluating model performance using appropriate metrics and identifying improvement areas.
  • Pipeline Maintenance: Building and maintaining scalable and efficient ML pipelines.
  • Code Development: Writing clean, well‑structured, and well‑documented code aligned with testing and version‑control practices.
  • Model Monitoring: Monitoring deployed models, ensuring expected performance, and assisting in debugging issues.
  • Collaboration: Participating in team meetings, sprint planning, and daily stand‑ups to maintain alignment with project goals.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in cloud environment with Databricks and AWS
  • 8+ years experience building data-driven products and solutions
  • Strong Python experience and knowledge, particularly in shipping production code.
  • Experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks such as pytorch or ai libraries and frameworks such as langchain, llamaindex, vllm, sglang, fastmcp o Connectivity between different front and and back end components o New and evolving interfaces with different authentication requirements
  • Ability to design, develop, and deploy AI and Machine Learning Solutions
  • Experience in working with large datasets and data preprocessing techniques
  • Familiarity with agile develop methodologies and version control systems
  • Strong experience with AI APIs (OpenAI, Hugging Face, Google Vertex AI, AWS Bedrock).
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
