Job Description

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Customer:

  • Actively develop and retain Transcon business together with the sales and account management teams.
  • Complete sales and retention calls per company guidelines.
  • Provide proactive pricing alternatives, routing solutions and technical assistance to customers.
  • Take an active role in the transition of new business/updates to existing business.
  • Maintain personal relationships with customers at all levels.
  • Keep customers updated on market conditions, new technology, and other value added services.

People:

  • Support District recruiting strategies for new employees.
  • Develop department personnel. 
  • Review and conduct staff 1:1's and annual reviews timely. 
  • Ensure and assist supervisors and key staff with goals and experiential learning.
  • Facilitate effective department meetings.
  • Meet company standards of 52 hours training per year, including as needed management/leadership training.

Operations:

  • Maintain accountability for execution within the department
  • Maintain accountability for departmental District Excellence measurements
  • Proactively monitor exception reports to ensure Expeditors is meeting key expectations within the life of each shipment
  • Maintain fundamental understanding of Expeditors operations systems
  • Support the service provider program within the department, ensuring consistent and high level operational quality to our customers
  • Collaborate with Service Provider Manager on service provider evaluations at defined intervals per company policy, focusing on areas of possible improvements with corrective action plans where needed
  • Ensure department is using all system tools to their fullest potential

    Finance:

    • Ensure that productivity and profitability goals for the Transcon department are met
    • Ensure billing is completed timely and accurately
    • Assist District Manager annual budget preparation
    • Meet monthly with Branch Operations Manager and District Manager to review department financial P&L and productivity results and goals
    • Attend accounting meetings and proactively work to maintain accounts payment within terms

    • Promote compliance by following all company policies and regulations
    • Proactively communicate with the team to ensure continuous awareness and understanding of policies and regulations

    Qualifications

    Knowledge:

    • 5+ years domestic transportation experience
    • Strong U.S. domestic transportation market knowledge

    Skills:

    • Proven interpersonal and communication skills
    • Proven negotiation skills
    • Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word etc.)

    The salary for this position is $60,500 plus monthly bonus.
