Job Description

Purpose

To support the company strategy of service provider and cartage management at a local level through qualifying, engaging, developing, maintaining, and measuring Expeditors district activities and relationship with service providers, including management of all aspects of Expeditors cartage program to achieve optimum value and provide exceptional customer service.

Operations:

  • Collaborate with Products & Services to identify the need for a new service provider and outline service expectations, coordinate the completion of risk assessment and facilitate the RFQ process to select the better provider.
  • Ensure service provider, at a minimum, meets our compliance and operational requirements.
  • Properly establish the service provider profile in the system, baseline KPIs, support with the mapping of processes and communicate status to respective users.
  • Monitor service provider compliance and performance with standards, participate in risk assessments and conduct business reviews, develop a plan to improve all areas of execution (i.e.: DLV to DLV create, DLV to POD), promote and monitor the application of environmental practices, adherence to compliance and security standards, investment in technology, process improvement, and growing the relationship.
  • Work closely with the regional service provider manager to learn about program updates and communicate the same to branch personnel
  • Consistently review and report on branch and service provider performance program standards and expectations
  • Ensure the service provider has a proactive focus on innovation and continued improvement
  • Develop policies and processes to support pick-up & delivery within the district
  • Establish and define intra-branch communication for all cartage operations
  • Ensure that policies and plans formulated are in line with the organization’s goals
  • Organize and lead daily service reviews with primary cartage provider(s)
  • Prepare periodic reports and present such reports to branch management
  • Make recommendations for policy or service territory changes
  • Collate data and information on customer stop costs & requirements
  • Create policy & process for approving cartage network diversions
  • Develop new strategies to maintain or improve on the quality-of-service delivery
  • Establish guidelines for all accessorial approvals & payments
  • Develop strategies to increase profit and minimize cost incurred on service delivery

Finance:

  • Constantly drive service improvements to create efficiency of operations and lower costs
  • Provide assistance in resolution of claims and disputes, credit and collections.

Systems:

  • Be open to implementing new system changes and enhancements into your department.
  • Be involved and suggest system/process improvements.
  • Set the tone of this environment within your department.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience (minimum level of direct experience in a similar position):  5 yrs
  • Experience in a global organization
  • Comprehensive knowledge of warehouse and transportation operations and management
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word etc.).
  • Ability to create/write and articulate business plans.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and proven interpersonal skills.
  • Good Analytical skills to determine performance and opportunities for improvement
