Job Description

Expeditors is developing business requirements and specifications for our brokerage software that is used by our U.S. branches to support customs clearance and related governmental compliance services on behalf of our clients.  The software is used to prepare customs entries, calculate taxes and fees, transmit and receive data from Customs, and support the overall brokerage operational

To support this effort, Expeditors is looking for an experienced member of our U.S. Customs Brokerage Import operations to temporarily join our corporate headquarters team for 2-3 years.  This is a full-time role and will report to the Manager, U.S. Customs Systems Development.

 

Tasks

Related to System Development:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for branch questions for designated systems
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency for identified system issues and work to resolve them with appropriate parties
  • Research and document current processes happening within existing brokerage systems
  • Research requirements within the CATAIR
  • Create and execute basic queries for analysis/research
  • Create necessary IS requests from the field and advocate on behalf of the requests
  • Contribute to the management of the product backlog and prioritization of such backlog
  • Attend and contribute to business analysis meetings and daily stand-ups
  • Develop user documentation and associated training
  • Communicate with branches on any system changes
  • Innovate new ways of engaging with U.S Brokerage Operations Teams

Related to Projects:

  • Support the execution of the Americas, Customs Tactical Business Plan
  • Serve as the owner for designated initiatives and support on all others
  • Break down any owned initiatives into tasks and track until completion
  • Provide regular updates on the initiatives through the designated format
  • Ensure initiatives keep moving forward by pulling in the appropriate people

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of related experience
  • Thorough understanding of the Expeditors U.S. Customs brokerage process
  • Familiarity with Expeditors Customs systems (i.e., CFIT, Product/Sku Management (PSM), Invoice Processing)
  • Licensed U.S. Customs Broker (can obtain a license while in position)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with Customs and Partnering Government Agency officials and internal employees at all levels
  • Proven track record of excellent customer service
  • Business application skills (Excel, Word, Visio)
