Hours: 36.5 hours per week, 08:00 - 16:30.
Purpose of the post:
This is an exciting opportunity based at our client’s facility, a world class Pharmaceutical company based in Macclesfield. We have an opportunity for experienced Analytical Scientists with at experience of drug substance development in the pharmaceutical industry.
The role will involve Provide crystallization support for the development and delivery of intermediates and API particle processes internally & externally.
- Contribute to projects focusing on sustainable process development and manufacture of drug substances and provide the link to drug product
- Have the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in Drug Product Development in multi- functional teams to define desired particle properties for formulations, manufacturability and bioavailability.
- Generating, reporting and interpreting high quality data with clear impact to development projects.
- Ability to present information and engage in discussions in multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Effective communication and influencing skills.
- Continuously develop yourself and your colleagues via training and shared learning experiences to improve our efficiency and effectiveness
- Ensuring own work is performed and recorded in accordance with appropriate Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), quality and compliance standards, e.g. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)Experience in a range of particle/materials characterisation techniques.
- Proficiency with inline Process Analytical Technology (PAT).
Qualifications
- Degree, Master degree or PhD level with experience post degree in an appropriate discipline such as Chemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences or similar discipline.
- Good knowledge of Optical and electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) is required.
- Understanding in API physical attributes and their impact on formulation.
- Experience with process crystallisation development, polymorphism and solid-form control, nucleation and crystal growth mechanism as well as scale-up of crystallisation processes.
- Experience of Scale-up from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial manufacture is desirable.
- Process robustness studies and understanding using Design of Experiments (DoE) is desirable.
- Ability to quickly learn new processes.
- Ability to work using fully electronic media, including MS Office.
- Ability to communicate clearly and to form strong working relationships with both internal colleagues and external partners.
- Ability to work on own initiative and be capable of developing solutions to problems as part of a team.
- Willing to operate in a flexible manner and be able to switch priorities at short notice.
- Good team player, organised, accurate, have strong documentation skills.
- Passionate about quality and customer service.
- Enjoys the challenges of working in a fast paced and changing environment.
