Job Description
Associate Scientist Intern responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
The Intern Program provides opportunities for undergraduate and recent graduates in scientific fields of study to explore career opportunities with Eurofins Scientific. Students are provided with an opportunity to contribute to our research organization in site laboratories under the mentorship of experienced scientific teams. The program will provide access to a range of equipment, methodology and technology relevant to current pharmaceutical drug development and advancing human health. The program will offer specific project goals in one of several functional lines supported at the St. Charles site: Ion Channel Biology / Electrophysiology, Pharmacology, Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion, Toxicology, Oncology Screening and In vitro Phenotypic Screening Services.
- Performs work in a laboratory setting, meeting the physical job requirements of a lab role
- Prepares and manages inventory of buffers, reagents, media, semi-finished and finished goods
- Maintains cell culture in a BSL2 laboratory, and adheres to cleanroom guidelines and aseptic technique, according to protocol
- Conducts production assays in ADMET, Ion Channel, Immunosignaling, OncoPanel™ Services,and manufacturing, lot release assays and inventory management for Cell Products
- Understands and complies with requirements for work performed at a GxP site
- Completes required training and supports 100% of Employee Health and Safety requirements
- Demonstrates proficiency with, care and maintenance of lab equipment and department assets
- Conducts responsible use of confidential IT and business systems, as required
- Adheres to department SOPs and documentation requirements, maintains accurate data management and reporting
- Supports unit goals and demonstrates Eurofins’ competencies, as defined in the job plan
- Contributes to scientific community, and site research and development objectives
- Works effectively in a team environment, under minimum direction, to achieve business production, project timelines, and quality objectives
- Adjusts work hours and provides cross-functional support to other departments, as required, and maintains accountability in delivering to client needs/timelines
- Routinely communicates project updates to internal and external clients
- Performs other duties, as assigned
Qualifications
Skills Available for Acquisition in the Program:
General Lab Support, Mammalian Cell Culture, Liquid Handling Robotics, Analytical Method Development, Lab Documentation and Data Management, The intern will be an active member of a cross-functional team and will be exposed to applicable organization (CRO) functions that span a broad range of applications within and supporting the laboratory, such as client services, reagent management, compound management, production, logistics and data reporting.
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of two years’ collegiate coursework with major identified in scientific field
- Completion of at least 24 hours coursework in Biology, Biochemistry, or Chemistry field
- Experience in an academic laboratory and knowledge of safe laboratory practices
- Experience with MS Office Applications
- Good Organization and Communication Skills
