Job Description

Eurofins is seeking a Business Analyst to bridge laboratory operations and product delivery for the North America Food and Environmental Testing markets, with a primary focus on our in-house Chromatography Data System (CDS) supporting GC, LC, ICP, and MS workflows. You will translate laboratory and business needs into clear, prioritized requirements; standardize and optimize workflows; and enable data-driven decisions that improve quality, speed, cost, and data integrity.

You will partner with lab leadership, quality, product, engineering, finance, and commercial stakeholders to deliver features that streamline instrument data capture, processing, QC, technical review, reporting, and audit readiness across the region.

Position will require 10-20% travel to assigned laboratories and stakeholder sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Operational Analysis

  • Assess the North America Food & Environmental Testing markets, regulatory expectations, and operational data to identify opportunities for efficiency, quality, and revenue growth.
  • Support pricing, segmentation, demand modeling, and forecasting to influence roadmap and investment priorities.
  • Recommend improvements to enhance turnaround time (TAT), analytical consistency, data reliability, and compliance readiness.

Product / Requirements Ownership (CDS)

  • Serve as the primary liaison between laboratory stakeholders and Product Development.
  • Elicit, document, and refine Business Requirements, User Stories/Requirements, and acceptance criteria (including performance, auditability, usability, and data integrity).
  • Maintain and update BRD, URD, and BPMN documentation; translate requirements into functional designs and support backlog refinement and release scoping.
  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT), coordinate business sign-off, and manage change management for new features and workflow updates.

Cross-Functional Business Support

  • Collaborate with NA lab directors, quality leaders, technical SMEs, and product/engineering to harmonize chromatography data workflows across sites.
  • Facilitate SME workshops to validate assumptions, simplify processes, and drive cross-site alignment.
  • Build strong, cross-functional relationships across Operations, Quality, R&D, IT, Product, Commercial, and Finance.

Process Optimization & Compliance Alignment

  • Map current vs. future state workflows; identify gaps, risks, and compliance needs across Food & Environmental testing laboratories in North America.
  • Ensure alignment with Eurofins Quality System (SOPs, work instructions, and methods); support audit preparation, nonconformity resolution, and CAPA execution.
  • Ensure all workflows, requirements, and software features comply with both markets’ frameworks, including but not limited to:
    • Food Testing: FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act), FSMA LAAF (Laboratory Accreditation for Analyses of Foods), USDA food safety programs, and ISO/IEC 17025.
    • Environmental Testing: ISO/IEC 17025, TNI/NELAP, and U.S. EPA regulatory programs and methods.
  • Track post-deployment improvements and quantify compliance, quality, and efficiency outcomes.

Data, Reporting & Financial Insight

  • Build dashboards and KPIs (e.g., method performance, QC metrics, error rates, throughput, adoption/usage).
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and business/operational reviews with clear, actionable insights.
  • Validate product requirements with laboratory performance data; quantify technical and financial impact.

Qualifications

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, Engineering, IT, or related field.
  • 3+ years as a Business Analyst or Product Owner/Analyst in laboratory, scientific, or software environments.
  • Demonstrated experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional documentation in Agile/Scrum (e.g., Jira/Confluence).
  • Strong analytical skills; Excel proficiency (SQL/BI tools preferred).
  • Familiarity with laboratory informatics such as LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and CDS (Chromatography Data System).
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. or Canada without restriction.
  • Working knowledge of North American Food & Environmental compliance frameworks, including: FSMA, FSMA LAAF, USDA, ISO/IEC 17025, TNI/NELAP, and U.S. EPA.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food and/or environmental laboratory operations, chromatography data workflows, or regulated scientific environments.
  • Experience building BPMN process models and drafting functional specifications.
  • Exposure to LIMS/CDS and scientific data management; understanding of instrument data capture and processing.
