Eurofins Environment Testing Australia is an Environmental testing network of fully accredited laboratories. With a staff of over 200 our laboratories are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and with Client Service Offices located in Adelaide, Darwin, Newcastle and Wollongong. We also operate field sampling services out of Melbourne and Sydney. We specialise in all areas of Environmental analysis, including Contaminated Soil, Sludge, Sediments, Leachate, Soil Vapour, Trade Waste Effluents, Sewage Effluents, Stack Emissions, Work Place Air, Ambient Air, Dust, Drinking Water, Surface Water run off, River & Stream Monitoring, Seawater, and Groundwater.
Job Description
Full time, permanent position based in Dandenong South, VIC
Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.
An extra 1.5% superannuation rate paid on top of national standard super rate.
- Receive the daily priorities list and ensure that all analysis will be done on time.
- Check spreadsheets.
- Check worklists and organise for urgent samples to be analysed.
- Check why results are not in for due/overdue samples (typo, reading error, add-ons, etc).
- Conduct internal audits.
- Respond to CAPAs raised. Update SOPs.
- Organise proficiency samples to be analysed and review results before submission.
- Organise for internal calibrations (of items such as pipettes, balances, timers, thermometers) to be carried out as scheduled each month.
- Organise for MDL, Precision & Accuracy, Linearity and Measurement of Uncertainties to be done biannually.
- When someone is away, organise for their task to be covered by other staff or if no one is available, take over tasks.
- Liaise with Analytical Service Managers about results checking and/or repeating.
- Help with troubleshooting instruments.
- Ensure that results due are in on time and if unable to meet the deadline, contact Analytical Service Manager.
- Train analysts with different tests.
- Set the work for all staff members in their section.
- Ensuring that all staff members are performing the QC as required.
- Ensuring that documentation is done as required.
- Performing analysis, calculations and maintenance if applicable.
- Cross-checking work of other staff members.
- Maintain the ‘Maintenance schedule’, ensuring that tasks are being done when required.
- Perform training (with the Business Unit Manager or Section Supervisor) as required.
- Set a good example in regard to ‘work ethic’ to other staff.
- Monitor and check the work of staff members in their section.
- Any other task required in the management of their section.
- From time to time, the Business Unit Manager or Inorganics / Section Supervisor may assign other tasks to be performed.
- Monitor and Report Personnel Costs and Controls to BUMA
- Act in accordance with the Eurofins Code of Ethics, and all other relevant policies and procedures, as updated from time to time
Qualifications
- Minimum experience of 3-5 years with Descrete Analyser, BOD/COD Analyser, AutoTitrators and SFA/FIA’s
- Minimum education level of a Diploma in Science, Laboratory Techniques, Inorganics Chemistry/Physical Chemistry or equivalent.
- Relevant experience demonstrating competency and working in a similar capacity at another ISO17025 accredited laboratory.
- General preference and comfort in technical environments.
- Ability to build and structure business plans, submissions and initiatives.
- Desire to continually learn and improve.
- Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking and abstract reasoning skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
