    Job Description

    Position Summary:

    The Compliance Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager, and the engineer performs product safety evaluations and certification testing for electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with national and international safety standards. This role involves reviewing product designs, performing safety testing, interpreting standards requirements, and preparing certification reports for equipment seeking NRTL certification, IEC CB Scheme Certification, CE Informative Test Reports.  The engineer works closely with lab technicians and clients including constant communication to ensure products meet applicable regulatory and safety requirements.

    Medical Testing Engineer Responsibilities & Duties Include but are not Limited to the Following:

    • Product Safety Evaluation
      • Evaluating electrical and electronic equipment for compliance with applicable safety standards
      • Reviewing schematics, critical components, construction details
      • Identifying potential safety hazards, including electric shock, fire, energy hazards, mechanical risks
      • Drafting applicable test programs and test reports
    • Lab Testing
      • Developing test plans and test datasheets
      • Perform and/or witness safety testing
      • Analyze test results and determine compliance
    • Technical Documentation
      • Prepare certification reports and technical documentation
      • Document product construction details and safety critical components
      • Maintain clear and accurate records of all testing and evaluation activities
    • Client Support
      • Communicate technical findings and compliance requirements
      • Provide guidance on non-complaicne findings
      • Participate in technical meetings and providing support to Sales on client calls

      Qualifications

      Basic Minimum Education Requirements:

      • Associate's degree in a technical field (electrical engineering, technology), minimum
      • Bachelor's in Engineering, preferred

      Basic Minimum Work Requirements:

      • Minimum 3-5+ years of experience working in an NRTL Laboratory (UL, CSA, TUV, Intertek, Eurofins) and familiar with basic safety standards.  
        • Core Safety includes: 62368-1, 61010-1, 60335-1.  
        • Medical Standards Include 60601-1 and -2 particulars.
      • Able to independently draft test plans, write NRTL, CB, CE reports.
      • Ability to communicate with clients and draft coherent, professional emails
      • Ability to read, interpret the standard and understand the requirements
      • Ability to perform testing in a test laboratory
      • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.

      Additional Information

      Position is full-time working Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm, with overtime as needed.  Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Irvine, CA are encouraged to apply.
