Job Description
DevOps – Technical Lead

With facilities in Europe, the United States and Asia, Eurofins Genomics is an internationally leading provider of DNA sequencing services, genotyping services, DNA synthesis products and bioinformatics services for pharma, diagnostics, food, agriculture, biotechnological and research markets.
Genomics business is enabled by global engineering teams working on next-generation applications and Laboratory information management systems (LIMS). As a DevOps – Technical Lead, you will leverage your strong technical and operational expertise to design, build, and govern scalable DevOps platforms and cloud infrastructure. The platforms you enable are mission-critical and directly support laboratory operations, customer-facing applications, and global business workflows.
Working closely with architects, developers, SREs, cloud engineers, and security teams, you will deliver highly reliable, secure, and automated deployment platforms. You will be empowered to influence technical decisions, drive DevOps standards, and navigate the complex Eurofins global technology landscape. We are looking for a hands-on technical leader who upholds a high-performance engineering culture and serves as a mentor and role model for DevOps engineers and application teams.
This role reports to the Lead Architect
Primary Responsibilities:
In this role as DevOps – Technical Lead, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and operating enterprise-grade DevOps and cloud platforms across Azure. You will own CI/CD pipelines, release governance, environment automation, and operational excellence, while working with globally distributed teams including developers, QA, security, SRE, and infrastructure teams.
You will play a key role in standardizing DevOps practices, enabling application modernization, and ensuring production readiness for business-critical systems.
Specific Assignments:
- Lead the design, implementation, and governance of CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps across multiple applications and environments.
- Define and enforce DevOps standards for source control, branching strategies, artifact management, and release promotions.
- Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) adoption using Terraform for consistent and compliant environment provisioning.
- Own release management, deployment planning, and zero-downtime deployment strategies (Blue Green, rolling deployments).
- Automate environment setup, scaling, and teardown, including scripting for daily operational activities.
- Manage and maintain performance and non-production environments to support performance, soak, and resilience testing.
- Collaborate closely with Group Infrastructure and Security teams to ensure platform setup meets program, compliance, and governance requirements.
- Monitor platform health, deployment success, availability, and performance KPIs, and take corrective actions proactively.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance, design reviews, and mentoring to DevOps engineers and development teams.
- Support modernization programs, including migration of legacy .NET applications to modern cloud-native architectures.
- Document DevOps frameworks, pipeline templates, operational runbooks, and best practices.
Skills required:
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipeline design, and release orchestration.
- Proven expertise in Azure Cloud services, including App Services, AKS, Azure Functions, Application Gateway, APIM, Azure Firewall, and Storage.
- Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Strong understanding of source control management, branching strategies, and artifact repositories (NuGet).
- Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes (AKS).
- Strong scripting skills using PowerShell and/or Python for automation.
- Experience managing multi-region and multi-subscription Azure environments.
- Ability to work effectively with global stakeholders across geographies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Minimum 10–14 years of IT experience, with at least 7 years in DevOps / Platform Engineering roles.
- Experience supporting regulated or enterprise-scale platforms.
- Exposure to performance engineering, security hardening, and operational excellence frameworks.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams, especially US and Europe.

Required Qualifications:

PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL CRITERIA: Eurofins has a strong focus on Performance Management system. This includes quarterly calibrations, half-yearly reviews and annual reviews. The KPIs shall be set and may vary slightly between projects. These will be clearly communicated, documented during the first 30 days of your joining.
