Job Description
Scientist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform tissue culture-based potency assays on live vaccine products, process intermediates, and related experimental sample
- Prepare solutions and culture media
- Maintain multiple cell lines
- Maintain records and test results following good manufacturing practices (GMP)
- Author and/or review scientific reports, SOPs, and assay procedures
- Work independently and efficiently
- Document work clearly and perform tests accurately
- Communicate effectively with client staff members
- Experience with ELISA and other cell-based assays
- Provide analytical assay/technical support for new and in-line vaccine programs
- Routine sample testing to support in-line product improvement
- Participate in departmental and cross-functional project teams
- Perform analysis of vaccine products and process intermediates utilizing various analytical techniques
- Effectively summarize and present results and recommendations at meetings and technical review sessions
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BS degree with 5-7 years’ experience, MS degree with 3-5 years’ experience, or PhD with 0-1 years’ experience in biotechnology, biology, cell biology, virology, biochemistry, or other related degree concentration.
- Experience with cell culture, aseptic technique, ELISA, PCR, Capillary Electrophoresis (CE), Western Blot, Southern blot, Cell biology and/or virology
- Strong laboratory/bench skills including pipettes and automation, with previous experience independently and collaboratively designing, executing and interpreting the results of analytical assays
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hands-on laboratory setting, self-motivated, adaptable, and a positive attitude
- Strong scientific, computer, organizational, and documentation skills, attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform method development and optimization
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
