Job Description

The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker, have a firm understanding of neuroscience, possess a broad range of in vitro skills and experience working with human donor nervous system tissue. The candidate will be part of a cross functional team that focuses on exploring the intricate connections between metabolic processes and neuronal function while contributing to the development of innovative therapeutic strategies. There is an expectation of strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively. This role offers a unique opportunity to be at a forefront of pain and neuronal Health research and contribute to groundbreaking discoveries

Specific Requirements

  • Ability to design, perform, analyze, and critically interpret in vitro experiments to conduct research on the molecular and cellular mechanisms linking metabolism with neuronal function
  • Familiarity with molecular and cellular biology techniques including western blotting, PCR, and cell culture and immunohistochemistry
  • Strong background with in vitro electrophysiology techniques such as whole cell current/voltage clamp, MEA recordings, and slice electrophysiology
  • Identify, develop, and implement innovative approaches to add functional capabilities and gain new insights into disease biology, compound target engagement and pharmacodynamics
  • Present data and conclusions to research teams and leadership in a clear and compelling manner

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience working with human donor nervous system tissue (e.g. CNS/spinal cord, dorsal root ganglion) using slice preparations and/or organotypic cultures would be a plus
  • Previous experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment is highly desirable

Qualifications

  • Greater than 90% course-work completed towards a BS in Neuroscience, Neurophysiology, or related scientific discipline with a minimum of 4 years industry experience relevant to described role requirements
  • Excellent troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills, attention to detail and ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams
