Job Description

This is a great opportunity to join Eurofins Food Testing Media laboratory in Wolverhampton. The purpose of this role is to be part of the team responsible for the timely and accurate production of media required within the Food and Water microbiology laboratories.

Please note this is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week - Sunday 10:00-18:00, Monday to Thursday 14:00-22:00. 

  • Ensure that sufficient media is produced and provided to the laboratory for the required workload and to this purpose, liaise closely with main laboratory and path laboratory technicians and team leaders. 
  • To produce all media in a safe and appropriate manner, and in line with standard operating procedures. 
  • To ensure the correct use of PPE at all times. 
  • To be familiar with COSHH guidelines and working practices within the media laboratory. 
  • To follow standard operating procedures and safe working practice to ensure the safety of self and colleagues.
  • To ensure that all equipment is kept within recommended limits for calibration and maintenance in order to adhere to quality targets.
  • Ensure that production work is conducted in a clean and tidy manner with due attention to the careful maintenance of all laboratory fittings and equipment.
  • Advise Laboratory Manager without delay of any problems affecting operations in the production area of the laboratory
  • Ensuring that any relevant paperwork related to the production of media is kept up to date.
  • A flexible approach to work will be required to assist other departments as and when required.
  • Responsible for maintaining some stock inventory.
  • Assist with continuous improvement within the microbiology department. 

Qualifications

  • Educated to GCSE level. 
  • Experience in working in part of a team. 
  • Good organisation and time management. 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to self motivate.
