Job Description

  • Perform basic bacterial culturing, cell culturing or virology, with aseptic technique, and prepare media
  • Conduct tissue processing, cell based assays and / or immunoassays (ELISA, Western blot) with serum and other biological samples
  • Perform basic molecular biology tasks such as PCR, RT-PCR, DNA/RNA purification and protein analysis techniques
  • Prepare reagents, manage and process clinical samples
  • Data entry, verification and handling, record keeping, in accordance with scientific protocol and applicable Standard Operating Procedures
  • Self-starter, able to prioritize and work efficiently
  • Demonstrate ability to follow a written procedure
  • Perform laboratory housekeeping duties and other general laboratory related tasks when assistance is needed
  • Order, maintain and stock lab supplies such as common assay reagents, laboratory consumables, gloves, cleaning agents, etc.
  • Conducting larger scale Immunoassays and DNA purification using available automation
  • Assisting with GLP and non-GLP clinical studies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biological sciences, chemistry or related discipline

  • Experience with PCR

  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude

  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies

  • Cell culture – basic skills: aseptic technique and understanding of cell-based assays

  • Microbiology – basic skills: aseptic technique, media prep, basic culturing

  • Molecular Biology and Immunology – basic understanding of ELISA, DNA, RNA and protein analysis techniques

  • General laboratory experience in microbiology and/or immunology

  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
