Job Description

Job Title: Senior IT Systems Administrator - with strong exposure to Azure Cloud Technologies

Line Manager: European Agroscience IT Manager

Purpose of the Post

This is a strong technical position and as such needs an individual with strong analytical and technical skills, with an ability to manage their own workloads as well as an excellent customer facing attitude. You will be required to advise the European Agroscience IT Manager on technical escalations and challenges and to coach more junior members of the team on a daily basis as well as advise and guide the businesses on best practices.

Essential Knowledge

  • In depth experience of Windows Server 2008/2012/2016 administration, including AD/DHCP/DNS/GPO administration etc.
  • Knowledge of administering Azure environments
  • Experience with O365 and Intune.
  • In depth knowledge and experience of supporting Windows 7 and Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise.
  • Strong hardware support skills, including maintenance of PC’s, printers and other associated equipment.

Technical/Work-based Skills

  • Networking in general, (Cisco)
  • Routers, Firewall and VPN skills
  • TCP/IP and LAN environment
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • VMware Configuration and Administration
  • Centralised Storage Systems
  • Backup Technologies (Veeam/Commvault etc.)

General Skills/Attributes

  • Enthusiasm, initiative, motivated self-starter and dependability
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong documentation and report writing skills.
  • Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own work.
  • Customer focused
  • No 9-5 mentality

Essential Experience

  • Systems administrator for network (LAN, WAN, firewall), in a Wintel environment.
  • Hardware monitoring and upgrading.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar support role in a large multisite environment.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience of working in an ITIL environment.
  • Experience of integrating new businesses
  • Experience of working within a Lab environment.

This role offers and exciting opportunity to work for a global business in their Agroscience business across most of Europe.

Up to 30% foreign travel will be required to support all of our colleagues throughout the year.

A valid UK/EU passport and a full driving license are a must, as is the ability to think independently and work unsupervised to progress the IT needs and requirements of the business, under the direction of the European Agroscience IT Manager.
