The purpose of this role is to ensure delivery of service in Sample Reception/Preparation including the management of the team in line with the accreditation standard, expectation of key accounts and efficient day-to-day operation of the laboratory. 

Main Duties include:

• Day to day management of the team, operation and staff well-being and HSE
• Ensure all samples are proactively registered for analysis in a timely and accurate manner, and transferred to the laboratory maintaining sample traceability and integrity
• Ensure samples are registered as per customer quote requirements and immediately identify and resolve any issues.
• Ensure time critical testing is conducted within holding times to avoid deviations.
• Drive disciplined performance of the team for the timely registration and processing of samples and ensure training is up to date.
• Liaise with internal department and customers relating to queries on incoming samples
• Daily co-ordination with logistics team leader and customer support team, and check that all scheduled samples have been received and registered.
• To ensure all analysis to be subcontracted is logged and dispatched on daily basis.
• To liaise with subcontractors and arrange specific reporting times where required for key accounts or specific projects.
• To follow up on a daily basis to ensure subcontracted samples are on track for reporting within agreed timelines.
• To inform customers promptly by means of a delay notification or incident report in the event of potential reporting delays.
• To report performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• To identify and implement improvements within the work area
• Implement and sustain a culture of continuous improvement and 5S
• Lead internal and external audits, including INAB

• Record of ongoing professional development
• Previous experience working within an accredited contract testing laboratory or related industry laboratory environment are preferred but full training will be provided
• Thorough understanding of relevant quality system and accreditation requirements
• Good keyboards skills and experience of LIMS Systems, MS Office packages in particular Excel.
• Good standard of written and spoken English and numeracy skills.
