Job Description

  NMR Scientist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support with solid state NMR lab operation and maintenance
    • Coordinate instrument and probe repair and calibrate the instrument and probes when they return from repair
    • Coordinate cryogen refill schedule with end users and vendor
    • Manage and maintain equipment and accessory inventory and manage all PM, magnet drifts, and boil off rates
    • Implement protocols
  • Support solid State NMR sample handling
    • Handling of sample receiving, shipping, and inventory
    • Selective Unpacking, cleaning and packing ssNMR rotors which can include a variety of dosage forms and OEB levels 1-4 [all ssNMR staff expected to share responsibility of sample packing/unpacking]
    • Preparing samples for instrument calibration and method development by following protocols. These will include wet lab work for lipid membrane samples as long as the work is not method development or exploratory R&D
  • Support Solid State NMR data collection, analysis, and documentation
    • Perform routine 1D and relaxation data collection for pipeline support
    • Documenting experimental data and drafting memos and reports for in-scope assignments

Qualifications

The ideal candidate would possess:

  • Must have demonstrated academic or industrial experience with sample preparation, equipment maintenance, routine analysis and characterization of solution and solid-state pharmaceutical materials
  • Experience with Microsoft office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to multi-task and be self-motivated
  • Ability to perform duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, material sciences or relevant fields; or a BS/MS degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience on solution NMR or solid-state NMR

Additional Information

Position is full-time, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Rahway, NJ are encouraged to apply.
