Job Description
Eurofins Beacon Discovery provides integrated drug discovery support to both pharma and biotech partners. The Beacon team has >20 years of drug discovery experience, moving targets all the way from initial concept to clinical candidate. Assay development, high throughput screening, medicinal and computational chemistry design, cell biology and pharmacology are all performed on-site. Beacon Discovery is searching for a Research Associate to support cell-based assays as part of integrated drug discovery programs. A great opportunity to receive training in new technologies in laboratory automation and enhance skill development working with high-throughput screening (HTS) platforms. The position provides an outstanding opportunity to learn new techniques and develop new skills within a dynamic research team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Culture mammalian cell lines using aseptic techniques and perform cell characterization using cell counting and flow cytometry
- Validate and optimize small scale assays to high-throughput screening (HTS) platform
- Maintain and develop SOPs for new assays
- Develop new cell lines and cell-based assays to support research programs
- Perform cell-based, functional assays, using basic laboratory automation/robotics to guide medicinal chemistry efforts
- Add experimental data to an online database and perform data QC and analysis
- Present experimental data in team meetings
- Read scientific literature and engage with project teams
- Document work clearly and perform tests accurately
- Highly motivated, punctual, works both independently and in a team
- Ability to work with a flexible schedule
Qualifications
- Typically requires 2+ years of related biotech industry experience.
- Cell culture and cell based assay experience required.
- Lab automation experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or related discipline.
