Job Description

The Air Group Lead is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Lead and manage day-to-day operations of Air Department 
  • Set up, optimize, and calibrate related equipment independently, and help others with these tasks as needed 
  • Manage the sample analysis process.
  • Set performance metrics to ensure goals in customer satisfaction as well as internal cost control objectives are met.
  • Ensure staff is well trained and understands expectations.
  • Identify areas for improvement in workflow and quality systems. Generate creative ideas and solutions and initiate these changes when necessary.
  • Effectively use performance reviews to assess potential, evaluate employee effectiveness, and cultivate strengths and competencies.  
  • Proactively communicate production and technical issues to project managers and lab director.
  • Participate in the evaluation of projects as they come in, understanding the client’s needs and perspective. Communicate this perspective to the team.
  • Manage communications with employees, project managers and other departments effectively and professionally.
  • Resolve customer inquiries in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Troubleshoot equipment as needed 
  • Establish and maintain healthy inventory levels
  • Excel in accident prevention management.
  • Take prompt action to eliminate work hazards and unsafe conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned

 As the first level of front line leader, the Group Leader must communicate, interpret, implement, and represent the goals, policies and culture of the company as provided to them by Senior Management.

Position is M-F 8:30am-5pm.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Chemistry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Previous experience working in a lab, preferably in Air Testing
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to perform the physical requirements of the job
  • Ability to adherence to safety protocol and operation procedures
  • Organizational skills (prioritize work with minimal supervision)
  • Demonstrate versatility, flexibility, and efficiency
  • Effective use of time in managing multiple priorities
  • Technical proficiency in the operation and/or theory of environmental laboratory instrumentation 
  • Ability to communicate technical expertise with staff in order to meet the client’s needs.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and effectively use resources to solve problems. 
  • Must be PC literate and able to effectively utilize data reduction software and spreadsheets (Word and Excel).
  • Ability to distinguish between primary and secondary tasks in order to prioritize these tasks and make effective use of peak time periods.
  • Organized and detail oriented with a hands-on approach and the ability to work efficiently and accurately within a fast paced environment.
  • Experience with inventory management tools and processes
  • Ability to take initiative and work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship
