Job Description

We have an exciting growth opportunity for anyone looking to step into a leadership role at the forefront of building and managing a team. In this role, you will manage chemists to ensure the project scope, client expectations, and requirements are met. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Establish and manage the timing of projects.
  • Manage client projects including assessment and translation of client need into project scope, definition and execution, Statistical Process Control (SPC), calibration and testing, planning of tests and evaluation of results and reporting opinions and interpretations, method modifications and development and validation of new methods.
  • Manage the development, validation, and modifications made to methods for project work.
  • Supervise, execute, and communicate projects independently and/or through a group of technical employees.
  • Communicate with clients regarding work at required intervals.
  • Conduct comprehensive library research and write reports as needed.
  • Review reports to ensure they meet the customers’ needs.
  • Participate as a member of the Management Team designing and controlling company processes and achieving corporate goals.
  • Achieve customer satisfaction by assuring the quality of technical reports.
  • Communicating verbal results for rush projects by the due date.
  • Ensuring projects are completed with enough time for routing the final project report while meeting customer due dates.
  • Interpret and troubleshoot analytical data in all areas within the Group's areas of responsibility.
  • Troubleshoot instruments as needed.
  • Ensure personnel perform tasks in compliance with company quality policy and procedures, and other applicable regulations and standards.
  • Educate others in your primary specialization and seek areas of new expertise.
  • Assess effectiveness of chemists, equipment, and projects to maximize growth and profitability.
  • Follows established safety protocols and procedures at all times
  • Follows the requirements of the Technology Control Plan at all times to ensure export control compliance
  • Ensures compliance with quality system documents and processes
  • Maintains specified records of test data and ensures Good Documentation Practices
  • Protects confidential information and proprietary processes
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Ideal candidate will have:

  • B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in chemistry or related field or equivalent industrial experience. 
  • In-depth knowledge and interpretative skills in one or more areas of specialization. 
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. 
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office or laboratory to access file cabinets, machinery, equipment etc.
  • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods of time (4 or more hours).
  • Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other lab equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead   
  • Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting.
  • Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.
