Job Description
The Quality Control (QC) Specialist receives sufficient authority from, and is accountable to the Quality Manager or the appointed designate, for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities. The QC Specialist has the authority to take action necessary to address departures from the quality system or analytical procedures, so long as such action does not deviate from established company guidelines, is consistent with sound technical and business judgment and follows the practice of the laboratory.
- Establishes and implements procedures to ensure that assigned equipment is properly cleaned, calibrated/standardized, and adequate for the testing performed, and is maintained in good working order. This includes maintaining equipment operating instructions, manuals and required logbooks.
- Ensures that the laboratory maintains good standing in appropriate proficiency testing and/or check sample programs such as AOCS Smalley, GAFTA, FOSFA, FAPAS, and EUPT-SRM; Responds quickly to questions concerning data quality.
- Maintains necessary document control including listing of currently used methods with accepted modifications clearly specified and records of method validation skills.
- Communicates clearly and concisely to management and staff both orally and in writing.
- Assists in the training of staff.
- Responsible for correct, on-going implementation of all SOPs that apply to each area of the laboratory.
- Works closely with local management to ensure that clients receive good, accurate service.
- Follows all guidelines, SOPs, and procedures of Eurofins Central Analytical Laboratories.
- Works closely with local management to ensure that laboratory facilities and equipment are well-maintained and safe to use.
- Ensures that proprietary methodologies are not disclosed to non-employees except as approved in writing by the Quality Assurance Officer or appointed designate.
- Maintains a perpetual state of readiness and willingness to respond to the queries and needs of clients, staff, and co-workers.
- Remain current on technical, industry, and business advancements and trends as suggested by the Quality Assurance OfficerManager or appointed designate.
- Promotes the company image through the exercising of sound and ethical business practices as related to the public and our customers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Serves as Deputy Quality Manager in Quality Manager’s absence.
- Monitors and assesses control charts.
- Assists in management review.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in science or related field and 3-5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Preferred experience or coursework in laboratory procedures, data analysis, computer operations, mathematics, and technical/business writing.
- Experience working in ISO 17025 accredited facility highly desired.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Excellent organizational and attention to detail; Familiarity with analytical practices and calibrations; Responsive problem solver and action oriented.
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Position is Full-Time, 1st Shift 9:00- 5:30 pm with additional hours, as needed. Candidates currently living in a commutable distance to New Orleans, LA are encourage to apply.
