Job Description

We are looking for an experienced (+7 years) Technical Assistant Director in Organic Chemistry to join our team.

This new position offer a fantastic opportunity to be part of a great team at Eurofins-VillaPharma (Fuente-Alamo, Murcia, Spain) and make important contributions to develop new chemical entities for Drug discovery.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Key role in managing Chemistry teams to align with VP goals.
  • Improve operational management systems, processes and best practices.
  • Coordinate and supervise daily operations regarding chemistry teams.
  • Find ways to increase quality of customer service.
  • Supervise and drive synthetic chemistry and medicinal chemistry projects from hit to lead finding and lead optimization to candidate selection.
  • Supervise and collaborate with scientific teams to deliver projects in time with high standard data and reports to ensure highest customer satisfaction levels.
  • Monitor and control of the entire work-flow process: From new project receival until delivery. Including Analysis & QC, High Throughput purification, scale-up and HTE teams.
  • Monthly Monitoring and control of internal productivity KPI´s and report to LT.
  • Help to formulate strategic and operational objectives.
  • Technically contribute to troubleshooting of potential issues in the development of a particular given project.
  • Help to recruit right individuals and provide them leadership, coaching and career development opportunities.
  • Conduct performance reviews (Based on KPI´s). Train/Develop and manage work performance.
  • Good communicating skills regarding goals, needed achievements to success.
  • Motivate and inspire all team members to reach excellence through coaching.
  • Supervise/improvement of operational SOPs and Laboratory best practices applicable to work performed.
  • Periodical and frequent Reporting to LT.

  • Excellent synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry knowledge and proven experience.

  • Proficient in a variety of analytical techniques used for analysis of organic molecules.
  • Highly skilled in data interpretation of analysis of organic molecules.

  • Effectively communicate with peers and interdepartmental colleagues.
  • Awareness considerate and provide guidelines for safe behaviors in the laboratory (Best Practices in Organic Synthesis).

  • Leverage group and individual experience to ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner.
  • Develop time management strategies to ensure work is performed within required timelines
  • Participate in technical discussions with supervisor and peers.
  • Proficient in electronic communication and internet-based data searching.

Qualifications

  • You have a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry, potentially supplemented by postdoctoral studies and extensive knowledge in Medicinal Chemistry.
  • You have a proven track record in managing Chemistry teams.
  • You are innovative, thorough, and can envision and guide to execute successful synthetic chemistry strategies.
  • You thrive in a Team environment of shared goals and responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to develop, implement, and clearly communicate chemistry strategies to team, management and collaborators also in English language.

 

Supervisory Requirements:

  • May act as a lead or first-level supervisor.
  • May provide oversite to laboratories, special projects, or group initiatives.
  • May serve as scientific lead on R&D.
