Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to Financial Business Manager, the Financial Specialist role is responsible for providing financial support related to all aspects of the IFRS accounting cycle including financial reporting to management and corporate stakeholders, and oversight on corporate financial compliance, policies and procedures. This role will also facilitate any auditing conducted by third parties to ensure effective resolution and swift closure of auditing activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor contract accounting by tracking contract billing versus schedule and working with the Financial Business Manager and other executives to establish appropriate revenue recognition allocation for each client
  • Support the department managers by providing revenue/margin analysis on customers, projects and products

·         Tracking and reporting to assist management for Capital Expenditures

·         Prepare working papers and support audit related to the SR&ED claim preparation

·         Perform and review GL Account reconciliations, validating accounts and correcting entries as required

·         Other duties as assigned

COMMUNICATION AND CONTACTS:        

·         Interacts with all departments and National Shared service Center

·         Interacts with customers and auditors

Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL

• Degree or certification in Finance or Accounting

• CPA designation, or to be completed within the next 8 months, IS MANDATORY

JOB RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Minimum 3 Years of experience as an Accountant or Analyst

• Experience with full accounting cycle

• Demonstrated team player and customer service centric

• MS Dynamics Great Plains (an asset)

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Some knowledge of IFRS

• Audit and/or related support experience

Advanced skills in Excel (will be tested onsite)

• Highly organized and proactive

• Clear, concise, and professional communication skills

• Great critical thinking skills

• Excellent time management skills
