Job Description

Please note that this is a Fixed Term Contract Position until September 2021.

Working hours are 4 days on, 4 days off, 9am-7pm.

To support and assist the COVID testing team with stock management including monitoring consumables stock, setting up requisitions and receipting new items, and liaising with suppliers and other laboratories within the Eurofins Group. The role may also involve more generic duties such as technical upkeep and creating reagents for use in the laboratory. The COVID team is a high throughput COVID testing laboratory.

The main responsibility of this role is stock management including:

  • Monitoring consumables stock.
  • Setting up requisitions.
  • Receipting new items.
  • Liaising with suppliers.
  • Completion of bill of materials to ensure effective stock management
  • Liaising with other laboratories within the Eurofins Group.
  • Setting up and managing Kanban or similar visual management lean system to track stock and ensure on-time delivery to maintain agreed stock levels.

Other duties may include day to day maintenance of equipment such as pipettes, biological safety cabinets and biological analysis equipment, as well as supporting the team on quality investigations, performing housekeeping duties including sample archiving, laboratory cleaning and maintenance of equipment, destruction and disposal of swabs and virus plates.

The role also involves:

  • Adhering to SOP’s, work instructions and EFS Quality Management system (QMS) at all times ensuring good laboratory practice(GLP) is followed
  • Reporting any non-conformances or near misses using local and company quality systems
  • Taking a proactive approach to Continuous Improvement (CI) within all aspects of the day to day role; striving to improve output and the efficiency of activities carried out across the laboratory and office, both scientific and support tasks
  • Monitoring stock levels ensuring that it is communicated immediately if consumables fall below base level
  • Taking responsibility for the Health and Safety of yourself and your colleagues
  • Communicating effectively to team members to ensure a smooth flow of work through the laboratory process.
  • Working in accordance with Eurofins values of customer focus, competence and team spirit, quality and integrity

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a high volume laboratory is preferred
  • Previous experience in stock management / procurement is essential
  • Good understanding of hazardous chemicals
  • Must be a good communicator
  • Highly Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures
  • Excellent time management skills required
  • Must have integrity and a strong attitude to quality
  • Needs to be a good team player
  • Adhere to and display the Eurofins company values
