Job Description
Responsible for the planning and implementation of the export control system, to further enhance Cargo’s regulatory compliance level around restricted commodities and international sanction laws. Avoiding or minimizing penalties and fines, as well as liaising with applicable internal and external stakeholders.
Accountabilities:
Accountable for ensuring compliance with international trade and sanction regulations (Export Control), avoiding penalties/fines and protecting Etihad’s brand reputation, by identification and resolution of potential non-compliances and engagement with relevant internal & external stakeholders, incl. authorities and industry bodies
Liaise with IATA and all regulatory bodies on policy and process expectations and ensure the airline is at all times compliant with export control and international sanction regulations
Act as main POC across Etihad cargo in regard to regulatory compliance of shipments in doubt and provide guidance and training to cargo commercial in order to attract new business, liaising and co-ordinate with local or relevant authorities to evaluate scenarios and present preferred options to ensure a compliant operation at all times.
Responsible to minimize fines and penalties against EY Cargo due to regulatory non-compliances. Implement applicable and meaningful KPIs in order to track the performance level.
Manage the export control system on a day-to-day basis with a team working 24/7, ensuring no cargo shipments are accepted and uplifted if potentially conflicting with applicable regulations in the country of origin, transit or destination.
Responsible for all special commodities approvals such as live animals, MUW/LIC (MIL)/SWP.
Responsible to identify service failures and trends, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate such failures and work closely with the relevant departments to develop and implement robust preventive actions.
Responsible for managing cargo claims process in accordance with conditions of carriage and EY policy to minimize negative impact to business or customers.
Analyze trends and determine corrective actions in conjunction with operations and ensure implementation of proactive measures for loss prevention.
Escalate medium or higher-level risks to appropriate senior management executive level personnel.
Qualifications
Educated to at least diploma level is required, university degree is preferred. Diploma level in logistics, operations management or related discipline with acquired specialization in air cargo handling.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the aviation industry, predominantly with air cargo, demonstrating a sound knowledge of cargo operations, industry standards and project management. Experience working in multicultural environment dealing with people at all levels, including senior internal and external stakeholders.
