Job Description
PURPOSE
The Director of Technology and Cloud Engineering is responsible for overseeing and managing the organization’s design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's technology infrastructure and cloud platforms. This role involves managing technical teams, driving innovation, ensuring the scalability and security of systems, and aligning IT initiatives with business goals. The organization's Information Technology requires a team to provide operational and technical support. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in cloud engineering, a strong leadership acumen, and the ability to manage complex projects in a dynamic environment. This role is responsible for overseeing the technical systems and services for US Operations under the direction of the regional CIO. The Director of Technology & Cloud Engineering will lead the strategic direction, development, and implementation of cloud-based solutions and technology infrastructure. This role requires a visionary leader with a deep understanding of cloud technologies, software development, and IT infrastructure management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the technology and cloud engineering strategy to support organizational goals.
- Evaluate emerging technologies to recommend and implement solutions that enhance business performance.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align IT initiatives with business objectives.
- Cloud Architecture and Engineering
- Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
- Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and optimized for performance.
- Manage the migration of on-premises systems to cloud-based solutions.
- Team Management
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Plan and allocate resources effectively to meet project deadlines.’
- Operational Excellence & Management
- Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of IT systems and cloud platforms.
- Establish and monitor KPIs for technology operations and cloud infrastructure.
- Develop and enforce IT policies, standards, and best practices.
- Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.
- Stay updated with the latest trends in cloud technology and implement best practices.
- Security and Compliance
- Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect organizational data and infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001).
- Conduct regular risk assessments and disaster recovery planning.
- Budgeting and Vendor Management
- Manage IT budgets, forecast expenses, and optimize cost efficiency in technology investments.
- Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with vendors, service providers, and third-party consultants.
- Collaborate with external vendors to manage cloud services and ensure optimal performance.
Qualifications
Required Experience and Competencies
- 10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in cloud engineering and architecture, including public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, as well as relevant work experience in cloud computing, IT operations, or infrastructure management.
- 10 years or more experience in cloud computing, networking, and security.
- Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Certified – Professional Cloud Architect.

- Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and associated services.
- Strong technical skills as well as excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Knowledge of networking, storage, virtualization, and containerization technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
- Business Acumen:
- Strong understanding of how technology drives business success.
- Ability to balance technical innovation with cost considerations.
- Work Environment:
- Exposure to global business structures preferred.
- This position may involve a mix of remote and on-site work, depending on the organization's policies. Travel may be required for conferences, vendor meetings, or site visits.
