Job Description

Embark on your midwifery career with Epworth through our 2027 Midwifery Postgraduate Program. This is a unique opportunity to join our dedicated and supportive team of midwives, where you will continue to grow your clinical knowledge and professional skills in the rewarding field of midwifery.

Throughout the 12-month program, commencing in February 2027, you will be guided, mentored, and supported by our experienced Clinical Educators. The program offers a combination of practical experience and academic learning, delivered in collaboration with La Trobe University as part of the Graduate Diploma of Midwifery.

This is a fixed-term 0.8 EFT position, comprising:

  • 0.5 EFT paid employment
  • 0.3 EFT supernumerary clinical placement (unpaid student model)

You will work on a rotating roster across various maternity settings, gaining comprehensive, hands-on experience.

Please note: Once your application with Epworth is successful, you will be required to apply separately to La Trobe University as part of the course admission process.

You are passionate about delivering an exceptional patient experience by delivering high-quality Midwifery care.  Professional, empathetic and compassionate in your personal conduct, you have the ability to inspire others and be a positive role model.  You are motivated to continually learn, improve and promote best practice. 

You will have:

  • Current AHPRA nursing registration
  • Australian Citizenship / Permanent Residency; OR New Zealand Citizenship
  • You will have a minimum of one-year acute clinical nursing experience following your graduate year within the perioperative setting.

  • Home to approx. 3000 births per year
  • You will work across Postnatal, Birth Suite, Special Care Nursery and the Antenatal Doctors Rooms
  • 34 Postnatal Beds, 9 Birth Suite rooms, and 10 Special Care Nursery beds.
  • Supported by our 24- hour ICU, 18 theatres across our Albert Street and Victoria Parade site
  • Hands on Educational support, reinforced with various educational models and the use of our Educational Simulation Centre.
  • One of Victoria’s leading maternity hospitals
