Job Description

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager will provide clinical and professional leadership to the team who are committed to providing individualised care with our strategic focus that every patient matters. You will be responsible for supporting the Nurse Unit Manager and assisting in leading the team of a dedicated rehabilitation unit, including after hours coordination as part of the role. Working within a multidisciplinary team environment, you will join a patient-centred team caring for patients who are recovering from surgery or illness, or needing support to maximise their independence.   • Coordinating and effectively managing the rehabilitation unit's resourcing and services after hours
  • Maintaining and promoting patient safety within our satellite unit through early intervention and escalation of care

To be successful in this role:

You will currently be in an ANUM or CNS role or looking to step into an ANUM role, from either a rehab or acute setting. You are a good communicator, with a natural ability to influence and build rapport with your team, stakeholders, patients and their families. You’re keen to progress your career, learn how to lead a unit and are open to mentoring and accessing internal leadership programs that support your journey.

Position Description        Inherent Requirements

You will have:

  • Current nursing registration with AHPRA.
  • Previous rehabilitation or acute nursing experience
  • Possess excellent communication and customer liaison skills with proven ability to motivate and lead a team
  • Contemporary knowledge of best practice in neuroscience service
  • Committed to achieving high quality clinical outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience in building relationships with all stakeholders 
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing environments
  • Demonstrated ability in financial management and understanding of budgets.
  • Related Post Graduate qualifications (clinical or leadership) desirable

Qualifications

You will possess:

  • Registered Nurse Qualification and registration with AHPRA
  • Post graduate qualification in the area of specialisation
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills that inspire the trust and confidence required to lead and manage high performing teams and build strong relationships with patients, their families and key internal & external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships to work collaboratively with peers and superiors, and to contribute to organisation wide improvement and growth.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to delegate responsibilities to direct reports and support them fully through coaching and advice.
  • Demonstrated capability for and focus on innovation through initiating and implementing improvements to service delivery, models of care, evidence based practice and practice development.
  • Evidence of a commitment to patient/customer service, clinical governance and quality improvement.
  • Positive role model to all levels of staff in terms of commitment to the delivery of high quality patient care.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the National Standards for Clinical Excellence and ACHS Accreditation Standards.
