Job Description
Epworth Richmond Cardiac Diagnostic Services (CDS) has an exciting opportunity for a trainee Cardiac Sonographer to join its friendly supportive team environment on a full time permanent basis.
If successful you will be provided with high quality hospital-based training with state-of-the-art equipment. As well as training in cardiac ultrasound you will also be expected to train in and contribute to holter monitoring, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and gain experience in cath lab.
Cardiac Diagnostic Services provides a full range of diagnostic tests in cardiac ultrasound (transthoracic, stress echo, transoesophageal echo) and imaging during cardiac interventions, as well as other non-invasive cardiac services, for both in and out patients referred by specialists within and external to Epworth.
Staff work within a friendly and supportive team environment and are expected to produce high-quality scans with attention to detail, following ASE guidelines, adopting a thoughtful and analytical approach. Well-developed empathetic patient interaction skills are highly regarded.
Staff have the opportunity to attend and present at regular clinical and educational meetings and have access to funds to support CPD activity.
Future/ current enrolment in the QUT Graduate Diploma of Cardiac Ultrasound is preferred.

- Demonstrating your eagerness to learn and develop skills to become a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer.
- Develop knowledge of cardiac disease, arrhythmias and related pathology
- Excellent team-working and communication skills with patients and staff in the clinical team
- Having empathetic patient interaction
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential
- An undergraduate science degree or equivalent.
- Agree to undertake a Post Graduate Diploma in Cardiac Sonography (QUT preferred).
- At least 2 years experience in clinical setting
- Previous knowledge/experience in cardiac physiology.
Desirable
- Previous knowledge/ experience as a cardiac technologist (holters, ABP, cath lab etc)
- Previous exposure to Cardiac Ultrasound
