Job Description

Epworth Hawthorn is seeking an Associate Nurse Unit Manager to lead a dedicated team of staff within our facility. This role is a 12-month fixed term, part time -parental leave position till November 2025 and is an exciting opportunity for an experienced ANUM or a motivated Registered Nurse looking for career development.

Working within a multidisciplinary team environment, you will join a patient-centred team caring for patients who are recovering from surgery or illness or needing support to maximise their independence. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a team motivated to assist patients in returning to their daily lives. As the Associate Nurse Unit Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the Nurse Unit Manager and assisting in the overall clinical management and team leadership.

  • Working collaboratively with the Nurse Unit Manager in managing operational resources
  • Leaning into the Nurse Unit Manager responsibilities where and when needed
  • Being part of the Leadership Team that focus on delivering exceptional patient, family and staff experience while achieving high-quality clinical outcomes
  • Being highly accountable, respectful, supportive and engaging
  • Encouraging and role-modelling compassion and empathy towards patients and their families
  • Promoting productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders

To be successful in this role:

You are an experienced Registered Nurse, having worked as an ANUM or looking to step into an ANUM role. You pride yourself on your communication skills and have a natural ability to positively influence and build rapport with all stakeholders. You’re keen to progress your career, learn how to lead a unit and are open to mentoring and accessing internal leadership programs that support your journey.

You will have:

  • Previous acute or Rehab nursing experience
  • Ability to make autonomous operational business decisions
  • Passionate about employee coaching and development
  • Well-developed and effective cross-department relationship management skills
  • Flexibility to work rotating day and night shift blocks

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivelent 
  • Current unrestricted AHPRA Nursing registration
