Job Description
The Director of Quality Control is responsible for establishing a corporate quality assurance system and team that promotes customer satisfaction and that positively impacts the financial performance of the organization's continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to establish an effective Quality Management System (QMS).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Overall responsibility for the company’s Quality Strategy and related programs; initiate, implement and integrate a Quality Management System (“QMS") to raise the performance of the product lines.
· Continuous development and maintenance of the company’s quality manuals, production methods, specifications, QA protocols & guides, and training programs including step-by-step in workstations
· Oversees the inspection, rejection and Defective Material Return (DMR) procedure relative to large and small press aluminum extruded boards and related material upon receipt in production
· Prepare quality documentation/reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, warranty work, customer complaints and suggestions for improvement, corrective actions, plant incidents, freight damage or other incidents.
· Establishes and implements metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring and reporting system effectiveness and to enable managers to make sound product quality decisions.
· Designs, implements and documents procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
· Performs root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
· Communicate and partner with sales / customer service representatives to accurately document and quickly resolve customer issues.
· Utilize a holistic management approach to mentor, motivate, and assess the production team during product implementation process from engineering to manufacturing to shipping.
· Establish methods, program and practices for continuous education and training of all production workers, including special emphasis to their impact in/on the QMS.
· Monitors manufacturing performance and establish criteria and rating system for all manufacturing employees.
· Participate actively in the development of new products by ensuring that quality attributes are built into the design of such products.
· Investigate new technologies in processing and ingredients that may enhance products from a quality and/or productivity standpoint.
· Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and seminars, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of- the-art practices and participating in professional societies.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree
10-15 years’ experience in a QA managerial position in the manufacturing industry.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Capable of setting the strategic direction of the QA Department & gaining buy-in from leadership
· Ability to work across multiple departments to build relationships, provide guidance, & hold all production managers, supervisors and production employees accountable to meet/exceed QA expectations
· Experience in quality systems management and continuous improvement and product development
· Proven experience in building, managing, & maintaining best in class QA programs aligned with the organization's key strategic objectives (transformation of programs is a plus)
· Experience with managing quality assurance programs
