    Job Description

    The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, close processes and assisting with internal and external audits. This role will report into the Senior Accountant.

    Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

    · Assist with the month-end close process for several hazardous waste facilities.

    · Prepare and post journal entries.

    · Prepare monthly account reconciliations.

    · Communicate month end P&L results to management for responsible facilities.

    · Respond to information requests, review financial statements, and assist with internal/external audits.

    · Meet processing and reporting deadlines.

    · Ensure compliance with GAAP.

    · Provide support to operations as needed.

    · Report to the Senior Accountant and work to improve financial processes.

    · Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.

    · Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management.

     

    Qualifications

    Basic Required Qualifications:

    · Bachelor’s degree in accounting

    · Minimum 2 years of accounting experience

    · Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

    · Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.

    · Working knowledge of US GAAP.

    · Strong numeracy and analytical skills.

    · Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with Excel.

    Preferred Qualifications:

     

    · Experience with Oracle

    · Ability to sit for extended periods of time

    · The ability to deal politely and professionally with customers and/or coworkers

    · The ability to manage several tasks at once to meet deadlines

    · The ability to follow direction or instruction
