Job Description
The Account Director is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of a portfolio of accounts, ensuring the successful delivery of both online and offline campaigns. This role requires a highly organised and commercially minded leader who can drive operational excellence while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
As part of a growing agency, the Account Director will balance hands-on strategic oversight with a forward-thinking approach, contributing to the long-term growth and evolution of the business. The ideal candidate will be confident providing strategic direction at both project and portfolio level, while identifying opportunities to expand client relationships and agency capabilities.
Core Summary
- Provide strategic leadership across the current account portfolio and individual projects, ensuring partnerships consistently exceed client expectations.
- Drive organic account growth through proactive day-to-day management and opportunity identification.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline by identifying new business opportunities and areas for expansion.
- Oversee financial management across accounts, including budget forecasting, revenue recognition, profitability tracking, and billing accuracy.
- Lead new business initiatives, aligning strategic solutions to client challenges and unlocking opportunities beyond the agency’s current scope.
- Inspire and develop internal teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
Client Leadership & Relationship Management
- Lead and cultivate senior, face-to-face relationships with key pharmaceutical clients across the US, with a primary focus on New Jersey.
- Act as the principal point of contact and trusted strategic advisor for your assigned client portfolio.
- Deliver high-level strategic communications counsel and marketing guidance aligned to client objectives and business priorities.
- Identify and unlock organic growth opportunities within existing accounts through proactive relationship development and strategic insight.
- Anticipate potential client service challenges and implement solutions swiftly and effectively to ensure seamless delivery and partnership continuity.
Strategic Direction
- Develop insight-driven strategies and inspiring creative briefs that deliver breakthrough work aligned to clear business objectives.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to shape integrated client plans, including strategic planning, forecasting, and long-term growth roadmaps.
- Provide expert guidance to clients on digital innovation and emerging trends within healthcare marketing, ensuring forward-thinking and competitive solutions.
- Champion continuous learning and thought leadership, pushing strategic and creative boundaries to deliver work that drives measurable impact and builds enduring brands.
Team Collaboration & Leadership
- Collaborate effectively with distributed teams across Australia, the US, and Colombia (as required), navigating multiple time zones to ensure seamless delivery.
- Oversee day-to-day account and project operations, maintaining high standards and consistently exceeding client expectations.
- Partner closely with creative and production teams to develop compelling concepts and ensure fully integrated execution.
- Cultivate a collaborative, solutions-focused culture across cross-functional teams, promoting accountability, innovation, and shared success.
Qualifications
What you bring
Required:
- 7+ years of account management experience in an advertising agency
- Pharmaceutical / healthcare advertising experience (animal health experience would be ideal)
- 2-3 years of digital marketing experience
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships in-person and virtually
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong presentation and client-facing skills
- Proven ability to develop sound marketing strategies and inspire creative thinking
- Sound financial and budget management capabilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while staying connected to remote teams
- Comfort operating across time zones
