Job Description

Role Summary

Scrum Masters enable the implementation of scrum framework and its principles, values, and practices within a squad. The role acts as a servant leader who helps their teams to deliver value incrementally in a collaborative manner. In the context of EQ, they are aligned to one or two squads.

 

Core Duties/Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Acts as a servant leader by serving the needs of the Scrum Team, removing obstacles, and empowering team members to take ownership of their work.
  • Promotes continuous improvement by facilitating Sprint Retrospectives, identifying opportunities, and implementing action plans.
  • Encourages reflection on processes and supports incremental changes.
  • Continuously develops personal knowledge and skills by engaging with Scrum communities, attending training, obtaining certifications, and seeking feedback.
  • Coaches the Scrum Team on Scrum practices, principles, and values, fostering self-organization and continuous improvement.
  • Facilitates collaboration and communication within the team and with stakeholders, promoting transparency and a culture of openness and trust.
  • Encourages cross-functional collaboration between Development Teams and other groups.
  • Supports the Product Owner in managing the Product Backlog, refining User Stories, and prioritizing work to maximize value.
  • Supports up to one Squad by facilitating group activities or workshops in complex and ambiguous situations with competing stakeholder needs.
  • Designs structured sequences of meetings, events, or workshops to solve complex problems.
  • Understands required outcomes and guides the team to deliver them.
  • Facilitates all Scrum events—Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives—ensuring they are effective, focused, and time-boxed.
  • Removes impediments by identifying blockers, collaborating with stakeholders, and resolving issues proactively. Protects the team from external distractions during the Sprint.
  • Helps improve team processes and performance in meetings, events, or workshops.
  • Ensures Scrum artifacts such as the Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog, and Burndown Charts are transparent and up-to-date by working closely with the Product Owner and Development Team.
  • Provides key metrics to senior stakeholders to maintain visibility into progress and priorities.

  • Strengthens collaboration, transparency and trust across teams and stakeholders consistently.
  • Ensures Scrum artefacts are accurate, visible and support informed decision-making effectively.
  • Supports Product Owner to refine backlog, improving clarity, prioritisation and delivery value.
