Job Description
The Senior People Operations Lead (Americas) is responsible for leading and overseeing HR operations across the United States, Canada, and potentially additional countries within the region. This role ensures the effective and consistent delivery of high-quality, employee-focused HR services, while driving operational excellence and compliance with local regulations.
The role includes leadership and development of the regional People Operations team, setting clear priorities, fostering capability growth, and building a high-performing, service-oriented culture whilst being hands on involved in the day to day business.
Working in close partnership with the HR Business Partner for the US and Canada, as well as the wider People Team, this position plays a key role in both strategic alignment and day-to-day HR operations. The role provides expert guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices, ensuring their consistent application across the region.
In addition, the Senior People Operations Lead plays a key role in the ongoing transformation of the HR function, driving the harmonization and automation of processes, policies, and ways of working across countries to enhance efficiency, consistency, and employee experience.
The role contributes to the development and continuous improvement of HR strategies, policies, and processes, proactively identifying operational challenges and leading their resolution. Additionally, it serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, offering insights and recommendations on HR and people management matters, and supports employees on a wide range of HR-related topics.
Locations: Must be east coast timezone USA - preference for Charlotte, NC or Northeast region
- Lead and drive strategic initiatives to harmonize and align People processes and operations across the US, Canada, and other countries in scope, supporting the ongoing transformation of the HR function.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve HR policies and procedures in line with local labor laws and regulations, ensuring a consistent, transparent, and scalable framework that enhances the employee experience.
- Lead, develop, and inspire a regional People Operations team, providing clear direction, coaching, and performance feedback, while fostering a high-performing, collaborative, and growth-oriented environment.
- Ensure all SOX controls related to HR data and reporting are appropriately designed, implemented, and executed in line with compliance requirements, with clear documentation and accountability across the team.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance People processes, driving efficiency, consistency, and a positive employee experience across the region.
- Work closely with the HR Business Partner to oversee employee relations matters, including conflict resolution and grievance handling, fostering a fair, inclusive, and positive workplace culture.
- Ensure effective management and continuous improvement of HR systems and data integrity, working closely with relevant teams (e.g., OSC) to implement enhancements and support operational excellence.
- Provide expert HR guidance and support to employees across a wide range of HR-related topics, including policies, performance, and workplace matters, ensuring a consistent and employee-centric approach.
- Coach and guide team members and less experienced colleagues, delegating responsibilities effectively and ensuring high-quality delivery of HR operations.
- Act as a key point of contact with local authorities, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and managing necessary reporting and documentation.
- Oversee and validate payroll inputs in partnership with relevant stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification, ideally in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources, within a dynamic, international environment.
- Proven experience in leading or mentoring teams within an HR/People Operations context
- Experience in IT services or professional services is preferred
- Experience working within a US-public company is a plus
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation across relevant jurisdictions, with the ability to apply this in a practical, business-oriented way.
- Solid understanding of HR policies, processes, and operational best practices, including personnel administration and HR systems.
- Experience working in international and multicultural environments, with the ability to navigate complexity and collaborate across geographies.
- Strong digital literacy, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and HR systems.
