Job Description

How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?

The Clinical Doctor, Site Project Coordinator will support the management of the HIV project and improve the delivery of clinical HIV services in supported health facilities by offering a package of integrated HIV care and treatment services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the planning, execution, and monitoring of the project in a supported health facility. The role requires a strong background in project coordination, with a focus on project planning, project leadership, and project scheduling. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, conflict management, and cost control skills, with a proficiency in project management tools. He will play a key role in ensuring project’s activities are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality.

No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect in this role?

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Under the general supervision of the Services Delivery Manager, he/she is responsible for:

1. Management activities (50%)

  • Develop and submit a budgeted monthly work plan in line with the project work plan, clearly showing planned activities, results, timelines, targets and verification indicators.
  • Fully ensure the implementation of the monthly work plan in line with budget in the most efficient manner.
  • Ensure effective collaboration with the multidisciplinary team on site to achieve project objectives
  • Organize in-service training sessions in conjunction with the Cluster Project Lead according to a defined and validated schedule.
  • Conduct and facilitate formative supervision and ongoing training for health care providers to ensure quality of services along the HIV/AIDS care cascade.
  • Hold weekly and monthly coordination meetings with staff involved in the HIV/AIDS program to review performance, identify problems and possible solutions.
  • Organize monthly feedback meetings with the Hospital Director and the Hospital Medical Advisor to provide high-level feedback and present challenges and opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the data collection and reporting system as well as the performance of the health facility's HIV/AIDS care and treatment.
  • Develop and submit the monthly activity and expense reports.  

 2Clinical activities (50%) 

  • Support the implementation of national HIV/AIDS programme guidelines, including antiretroviral treatment and treatment of advanced HIV infection
  • Support the implementation of Index Case testing with a focus on sexual contacts of newly diagnosed HIV patients and those with a high viral load;
  • Ensure diagnosis and management of cases of treatment failure, TB/HIV  co-infections, advanced HIV infection, as well as initiation of  second- or third-line antiretroviral therapy;
  • Provide care to all patients in a way that respects their uniqueness, using sound judgment, individual skills and qualifications, and collaboration with the care team.
  • Ensure continuous training and mentoring of the multidisciplinary medical/paramedical team in order to optimize the quality of care and empower staff 

Qualifications

To be successful, you will have:

  • Medical degree with at least 7 years of experience in the clinical management of HIV patients.
  • Registration with the National Order of Physicians of Cameroon is mandatory.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a health services management position in a hospital or health district
  • Training in project management would be an asset.
  • A very good command of the Microsoft Office software package (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is mandatory.
  • Fluency in French is a key requirement and working knowledge of English is an advantage.
  • Strong work ethic and ability and willingness to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a team and willingness to learn.
