How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?

The senior technical advisor family planning services (STA-FP) plays a key role in the implementation of EGPAF Tanzania’s family planning services. As part of the senior technical advisory team, he/she will provide technical advice to the regional teams and offer hands-on capacity building of regional/council and site staff in the area of reproductive, maternal newborn, child and adolescent health (RMNCAH), in particular in the access to comprehensive family planning services for youth and PLHIV. The STA-FP will support integrated and comprehensive services by developing innovative approaches to improve the program.  He/she will act as a valuable source of information for the GoT at national level and implementing partners while continuously advocating for high quality family planning services.

No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect in this role?

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and monitor the implementation of the FP strategy and develop initiatives to improve FP/RH services at the regional and district level.
  • Represent the organization at national level, providing technical assistance in policy and guideline development
  • Direct/oversee the implementation of activities and the capacity building of the project team and local counterparts to improve access to FP/RH services, including long acting and permanent methods of contraception, postpartum family planning, and comprehensive post-abortion care services.
  • Plan, coordinate, and provide support to staff in program design and monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Coordinate and collaborate closely with other project intervention areas and other relevant USAID projects to maximize synergies.
  • Analyze and synthesize data to disseminate lessons learned and best practices to stakeholders invested in improving clinical services for FP/RH services.
  • Contribute to the annual work plan development and quarterly, annual, and other project reporting to the donor(s).

Qualifications

To be successful, you will have:

  • Must possess a medical degree (MD, MBBS), clinical degree (such as a BSc. in nursing or midwifery), or a university degree in a related, relevant field
  • A Master of Public Health degree or Master of Medicine in Obstetrics & Gynecology is highly desirable.
  • Must be registered with the relevant medical licensure body in Tanzania.
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in program management and implementation of Family Planning programming, including supervision and reporting.
  • Must be a seasoned health professional with vision, strategic planning skills, and an understanding of the integration of FP/RH services with other health services to ensure efficient and effective service delivery and provision.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills to deal successfully with existing stakeholders, team members, potential partners, and government officials
  • Experience working in donor funded project management
  • Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills.

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) began supporting HIV and AIDS programming in Tanzania in 2003 and established a country office in 2004.
