Job Description

We are seeking a Staff Project Engineering Manager with 10-15 years of experience in guided munition and weapon seeker system development. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership in the development of advanced systems for the US Government. You will be the lead engineer on the project, accountable to the PM and engineering senior leadership for execution of engineering work. You will have the responsibility for technical oversight, engineering cost and schedule, and technical risk. You will also lead engineering project teams in the pursuit of new business, including the definition of advanced design concepts to address customer needs, the preparation of engineering inputs, cost estimates and schedules for proposals. You will work on everything from concept development, system trade-off analysis, system design, system integration and test, and transition to production. Your analytical skills and your ability to plan and lead engineering activities will be challenged on a daily basis.  You will work closely with others across the organization including interfacing with internal and external project teams, company personnel (Engineering, Operations, Program Management, Business Development), and the customer community.

Responsibilities:

Accountable for project's success – responsible for all technical decisions

• Schedule and budget performance

• Leadership of technical teams

• Reviews Request for Proposal (RFP) and Statement of Work (SOW) to ensure feasibility of execution

• Engineering risk management

• Subcontractor Management and Oversight

• Control Account Management (CAM)

• Defines technical staffing needs for projects and ensures this is coordinated with functional management.

• Oversees transition to production

• Serves as the engineering face of the project with executive management and customers

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent scientific discipline.

Desired Skills:

  • Strong communication and writing skills to convey technical ideas to both the customer community and to company personnel
  • Experience in operating in and leading multi-site or international teams
  • Comfortable leading and actioning technical team meetings
  • Able to bring clarity to Research and Development projects where technical approaches and outcomes may be variable, and ability to analyze and quantify trades and risks

* Must be willing to travel (up to 15%) domestically and internationally as required.
