Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager - Marine Structures to join our organization in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the design and engineering of marine structures while leading a talented team of engineers and designers. You will be responsible for delivering innovative, compliant, and cost-effective solutions for complex marine projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Lead and manage the design team, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and performance oversight to ensure project excellence and professional development
- Conduct detailed structural analysis and design calculations in accordance with international marine engineering standards
- Oversee the preparation of design documentation, drawings, and technical reports using industry-standard CAD and modeling software
- Manage clients and stakeholders
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation to optimize efficiency and profitability
- Review and approve design deliverables, conducting quality assurance checks to maintain high standards
- Participate in design reviews, feasibility studies, and value engineering sessions to enhance project outcomes
- Stay current with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices in marine structures design
- Communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications
- Minimum 12 years of professional experience in marine structures design and engineering
- Proven experience managing engineering teams and leading design projects from conception through completion
- Strong knowledge of marine engineering principles, structural analysis, and design methodologies
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven track record working with consultancy firms in the Middle East.
- Proficiency in project management, proposal preparation, and client management.
- Willingness to travel within the Middle East as required.
- Expertise in planning and designing ports and marine structures, including various types of quaywalls, jetties, marinas, and scour protection systems.
- Knowledge of relevant marine structural design software such as Geo5, Staad Pro, and PLAXIS
- Experience with budget management and cost optimization in engineering projects
