Job Description

Inhabit, a part of Egis Group, is seeking a Lighting CAD technician to support the delivery of lighting projects across a variety of sectors. Working closely with our Lighting Designers and project teams, you will be responsible for producing accurate technical documentation and supporting the development of lighting design deliverables from concept through to construction.

This role is ideal for a technically minded individual with strong drafting skills who is passionate about architecture, design, and the built environment.

4        Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain lighting design documentation including plans, reflected ceiling plans, sections, elevations, and detailed drawings.
  • Produce and update lighting layouts using AutoCAD in accordance with project requirements and office standards.
  • Provide quality drafting of all documentation to tender level including lighting installation details
  • Assist Lighting Designers with the preparation of luminaire schedules, technical specifications and drawing packages.
  • Coordinate drawing information with architectural, interior design, MEP and other consultant documentation.
  • Support the development of lighting control layouts and schematic diagrams.
  • Revise and update drawings throughout project stages based on design reviews and consultant feedback.
  • Ensure all project documentation is accurate, coordinated and issued in accordance with project deadlines.
  • Organise and maintain project files, drawing registers and documentation records.
  • Assist with preparation of presentation material and technical reports when required.
  • Participate in internal project coordination meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of drafting standards and workflows.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Building Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Drafting experience within architectural, interior design, lighting design or building consultancy environments.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD is essential.
  • Familiarity with lighting design documentation and construction drawing standards is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks within project deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Revit and BIM workflows would be beneficial.  
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam or other graphic software would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Lighting Calculations and rendering softwares would be beneficial.
  • Agility with AI tools would be beneficial.
