Job Description

  • ​​​​​​Design and develop underground structures, including cut and cover tunnels and stations, utilizing industry-standard engineering software and methodologies
  • Conduct geotechnical investigations and structural analysis to ensure safety and feasibility of tunneling projects
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for construction and stakeholder review
  • Oversee site supervision and quality assurance during tunnel construction and underground structure installation
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, contractors, and project managers to ensure project objectives are met
  • Develop and implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, and industry standards
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources while maintaining quality standards
  • Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for underground construction challenges
  • Communicate project progress, findings, and recommendations to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in tunneling and underground construction engineering

Qualifications

**Required Qualifications:**

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in tunneling, underground construction, or related civil engineering projects
  • Proficiency with industry-standard engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, PLAXIS, or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of geotechnical principles, structural analysis, and underground construction methodologies
  • Excellent technical writing and documentation skills
  • Valid Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility to obtain licensure

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Tunneling Engineering
  • 8+ years of experience specifically in tunnel design and underground structure projects
  • Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and advanced design software
  • Familiarity with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards (ASCE, OSHA, local jurisdictional requirements)
  • Project management certification (PMP) or equivalent
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing stakeholder communications
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and innovations in underground construction
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with demonstrated risk assessment experience
