Job Description
The Project Accounting Manager is responsible for the oversight and completion of all accounting tasks related to the proper set up, maintenance, reporting, revenue recognition and closeout of EDC’s projects. The position will supervise the Project Data Management Specialist, who will be responsible for setting up projects and entering award modifications, including the necessary budget data into Cost Point. This position is also responsible for the preparation and timely submission of the required federal project financial reports and small business reporting requirements.
The Project Accounting Manager:
- Ensure the accurate calculation of revenue recognized for each program, and the proper set up and maintenance of revenue formulas. Involves working closely with the Office of Sponsored Programs, Accounts Receivable team, Project Managers, Division Finance Directors and Center Financial Managers.
- Prepare monthly revenue and gain / loss reports including detailed comments regarding the margins for the individual projects.
- Maintain the project reconciliation database.
- Take the lead in ensuring that projects are closed, and final billings are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Prepare month end and year end revenue closing entries.
- Prepare all federal & non-federal project financial reports per the terms of each project.
- Prepare Small Business Reporting as required per the terms of EDC’s projects with applicable requirements.
- Perform other accounting duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required education:
- Bachelor of Science with a concentration in accounting
Other skills and experience:
- 8+ years of related experience.
- Working knowledge of GAAP, including complex revenue recognition issues.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills are critical.
- A hands-on approach with accuracy, attention to detail, organization, as well as spreadsheet and other office automation skills (Excel, Word, Access, etc.) are important in carrying out the functions of this position.
- Previous management / supervisory experience required.
- A demonstrated ability to think creatively and work as a team player is required.
- Ability to multitask and to respond to changing business needs
Preferred:
- Deltek Cost Point experience.
- Experience with filing financial and small business reports to the federal government
- Knowledge of federal government contracting regulations is highly desirable.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $90,000 – $100,000. Salary offers are made based on market analysis and internal equity.
