PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The USAID funded READ II is a five year project lead by Creative Associates with a subcontract to EDC to improve the reading proficiency of 15 million children by 2022, with a focus on six target regions. The project will focus on three main areas of intervention to achieve its goal to improve students’ reading fluency and comprehension: 1) improving classroom reading and writing instruction, 2) strengthening community engagement in education activities and 3) improving leadership, management and delivery capacity at each administrative level.
Job Description
Position Summary:
The Logistics Officer will perform a range of tasks and provide oversight of communications, mail, inventory management, supplies and equipment maintenance and timely staff services and efficient office operations.
Reporting & Supervision:
The Logistics Officer will report to the Regional Director and coordinate with the Logistics Manager and Procurement Officer in the Addis Ababa office.
Primary Logistics Responsibilities:
- Serve as the main point of contact with regards to operational activities eg. regional training facilitation, procurement, inventory, logistics, security and HR-related issues within the region
- Responsible for procurement process of the regional office by working closely with the Procurement Manager in Addis Ababa.
- Maintain and update database of trainings/workshops, and participants sponsored by the Project and report as required.
- Conducts coordination of vehicles and drivers.
- Provides oversight of vehicle logs, vehicle maintenance; identifies vehicle needs and reviews driver timesheets.
- Collects quotations for procurement.
- Handles all logistical coordination for project training workshops and events, including invitations, refreshments, room rental, printing, etc.
- Coordinates transportation and delivery of procurement and inventory.
- Responds to procurement/logistics requests related to supplies, materials for project activities.
- Handles all email, mail and phone general inquiries and requests for information and materials.
- Collects departmental logistical updates for monthly organization report.
- Assists with ordering supplies and inventory, as needed.
- Assists with trip expense reports, photocopying, ordering books and materials as needed.
- Assists staff with mailing projects and provides support assistance.
- Ensure that all fast-moving stock items are replaced in a timely manner ensuring continuity of supplies
- In close coordination with the Operations department (Addis), manage the regional procurement, maintenance, and inventory of office-related goods and services
- Assist staff within the regional office in completing time sheets and submit to Central office.
- Develop and maintain filing system (both electronic and hard copies).
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required;
- Must have at least three years of work experience in logistics;
- Fluency in English is required.
