Job Description

The Tech Lead is responsible for providing technical leadership across backend and data engineering activities within trading related product squads. The role ensures the delivery of secure, high performance applications and data driven capabilities while guiding engineering teams, collaborating with business stakeholders, and contributing to architectural decisions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership : 

  • Provide technical direction for backend and data engineering activities.
  • Mentor and coach developers to support continuous skill development.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, quality practices, and security guidelines.
  • Contribute to architectural design and the evolution of microservices‑based systems.
  • Guarantee the robustness, reliability, maintainability, and performance of critical backend components.

2. Product & Engineering Delivery :

  • Gather and analyze functional and technical requirements with Product Owners and stakeholders.
  • Design system and service architectures for trading applications.
  • Break down work, plan tasks, supervise and support team members throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Build, optimize, document, deploy, and maintain backend and data‑driven components.
  • Provide user support and monitor deliverables after release to ensure stable operations.

3. Team Collaboration :

  • Collaborate with traders, quants, developers, and product teams to support business outcomes.
  • Work effectively within a distributed team across Belgium and the Philippines.
  • Participate actively in agile ceremonies (planning, daily stand‑up, review, retrospectives).

Qualifications

Technical Skills :

  • Strong experience in Python (mandatory).
  • Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes (mandatory).
  • Cloud architecture experience (mandatory).
  • Good understanding of networking and cybersecurity.
  • Experience with electronic or algorithmic trading is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of microservices‑based architectures is an advantage.

 Soft Skills :

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
  • High level of ownership and autonomy in problem‑solving.
  • Ability to analyze requirements and propose relevant technical solutions.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, demanding environment.
  • Strong teamwork mindset, especially in distributed and multicultural settings

Profile Requirements : 

  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in backend or data engineering roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical leadership or senior individual contributor positions.
  • Experience working with cross‑functional teams and business stakeholders.
