Job Description

We're looking for a detail-oriented and efficient HVAC Technical Specialist to join our team in Fredericton, NB. In this role, you will apply your analytical skills and expertise to provide exceptional technical support to our customers and sales team while serving as a technical resource for the products and solutions we offer, as well as a liaison between the manufacturers and our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Technical Support

  • Assist HVAC contractors with technical questions regarding equipment, installation, operation, troubleshooting, and application.
  • Help contractors select the appropriate equipment and components for specific applications.
  • Assist with difficult or unusual technical situations.
  • Provide support by phone, email, video call, or on-site when appropriate.
  • Help customers navigate manufacturer documentation, installation manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.

Manufacturer Liaison

  • Develop strong technical relationships with manufacturers and their technical support teams.
  • Escalate complex technical issues when required.
  • Stay informed about product updates, recalls, technical bulletins, and new technologies.
  • Communicate manufacturer information and changes to the sales team and customers.

Sales Team Support

  • Serve as the technical resource for inside and outside sales teams.
  • Help salespeople understand product capabilities, limitations, and applications.
  • Assist with complex equipment selections and system design.
  • Participate in customer meetings when technical expertise can help secure or support a sale.

Training & Education

  • Organize and deliver technical training for employees and customers.
  • Coordinate manufacturer training sessions.
  • Develop product presentations, technical guides, and troubleshooting resources.
  • Help keep the sales team current on new products and technologies.

Product Expertise

  • Become a subject-matter expert on the key product lines carried by the company.
  • Understand equipment specifications, compatibility, accessories, controls, applications, and installation requirements.
  • Identify gaps in product knowledge and recommend training or resources.

Warranty & Technical Issue Support

  • Assist customers and sales staff with warranty-related technical questions.
  • Help determine whether an issue is related to installation, application, equipment, or component failure.
  • Work with manufacturers to resolve difficult warranty cases.
  • Track recurring technical problems and identify opportunities to improve customer support.

Product & Business Development

  • Provide feedback to management and purchasing teams regarding product performance and customer needs.
  • Identify emerging HVAC technologies and products that may benefit the company and its customers.
  • Help evaluate new product lines from a technical perspective.
  • Act as a voice for the contractor when evaluating products and solutions.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate

 

  • Has a post-secondary education.
  • Is bilingual (English and French), both spoken and written.
  • Has great communication skills and teaching ability.
  • Has strong HVAC technical knowledge.
  • Has hands-on experience in the HVAC industry.
  • Understands both equipment and installation practices.
  • Can diagnose problems logically.
  • Is comfortable talking to experienced contractors.
  • Can explain complicated technical concepts in a simple way.
  • Builds strong relationships with customers and manufacturers.
  • Is comfortable presenting and training groups.
  • Is curious and stays current with new HVAC technology.
  • Has a strong customer-service mindset.

Additional Information

Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000, plus profit share
