Job Description
Ready to make a meaningful impact by strengthening how a major nuclear construction project learns from events, prevents future risks and protects its people every day? In this role, you’ll shape how operational insights lead to safer outcomes, more effective decisions and a more resilient safety culture. At EDF, Success is Personal – and the work you do will help safeguard performance, progress and the teams building Hinkley Point C.
The Opportunity
As our Learning and Continuous Improvement Manager, you’ll play a central role in guiding how the project captures, triages and learns from events, incidents and emerging risks. Your work will directly contribute to EDF’s journey towards An Electric Britain, strengthening how we maintain compliance, uphold nuclear safety principles and prevent issues from recurring across one of the UK’s most complex construction environments.
Alongside a competitive salary and the potential for an annual bonus, this role is based at #HinkleyPointC, where you’ll spend four days per week on site working closely with teams across engineering, operations, construction and safety. You’ll lead a team of Leads and Coordinators responsible for managing a high‑volume reporting environment, ensuring that the project has accurate, timely and actionable insight into up to 45,000 reports each year.
This is an exciting opportunity to build deep expertise across nuclear, defence and other high‑hazard regulated environments. You’ll drive improvements through trend analysis, support Corrective Action Programme (CAP) activities, champion best practice from OPEX and OEF, and help create a culture where learning proactively prevents repeat events and strengthens our transition towards An Electric Britain.
Who You Are
We’re looking for a Learning and Continuous Improvement Manager who is collaborative, confident in influencing others, and comfortable leading in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment. To be shortlisted, you need to offer…
- Background in the nuclear industry or similar high‑hazard regulated sectors
- NEBOSH qualification (Diploma preferred) or equivalent health & safety background
- Experience in engineering, operations or quality assurance on a regulated site
- Demonstrable experience managing a team
- Experience working with nuclear licence condition requirements, ideally LC7
- Strong understanding of event/incident reporting systems, trend analysis and improvement processes
Security Vetting
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting (CTC), which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Overseeing event, incident and near‑miss reporting across the project
- Leading trend analysis to identify recurring issues and drive preventive action
- Owning the Project Reporting Tool to ensure accurate information for Senior Management
- Supporting CAP, OPEX/OEF processes and performance improvement activities
- Managing a team of Leads and Coordinators delivering organisational learning activities
Pay, Benefits and Culture
Alongside a competitive salary, potential for an annual bonus, and a market‑leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days and more.
