What's the Role?
As a Senior Estimator, you'll help Dexterra grow its Facility Services business by developing accurate pricing strategies and cost models for janitorial, custodial, and integrated facility services opportunities across Canada.
This is a commercial estimation and pricing role that combines operational knowledge, financial modelling, business analysis, and proposal support.
What you'll do
Estimating accuracy is essential to our success — and the Sr. Estimator directly supports our ability to win new business, mitigate financial risk, and deliver strong results for our clients and partners.
Working as part of our Business Development Enablement team, you'll partner with operations, sales, and leadership teams to turn service delivery requirements into competitive, financially sound proposals that support both growth and profitability.
- Building accurate labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor cost models.
- Supporting pricing strategies for new business opportunities and contract renewals.
- Partnering with operations leaders to validate staffing plans, productivity assumptions, and service delivery models.
- Supporting proposal and bid development activities across a variety of client opportunities.
- Evaluating financial risk, contingencies, and margin requirements.
- Analyzing historical performance data to improve future estimates and pricing strategies.
- Enhancing estimating tools, templates, and reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Maintaining alignment with Sales and the Proposal teams.
- Understand and follow workplace safety procedures.
- Participate in presentations to corporate management and clients as required.
- Assist with materials studies, method evaluations, and cost recommendations.
Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
We're looking for a highly analytical professional who can combine strong financial and data skills with an understanding of operational service delivery.
You may come from facilities management, janitorial services, commercial pricing, estimating, finance, accounting, business analysis, or another environment where operational and financial decisions intersect.
- 3-5 years of experience in estimating, pricing, operations, finance, accounting, business analysis, or a related field.
- Experience within facilities management, janitorial services, custodial operations, food services, aviation services, security services, or other outsourced service environments (strongly preferred).
- Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling, complex formulas, lookups, and large dataset analysis.
- Experience developing cost models, budgets, forecasts, pricing strategies, business cases, or operational plans.
- Experience using RSMeans or similar estimating software (preferred).
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience supporting proposals, RFPs, bids, tenders, or other competitive business development pursuits.
- The ability to translate operational requirements into accurate labour models, cost assumptions, and pricing solutions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across operations, sales, and leadership teams.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Post-secondary education in business, finance, accounting, operations, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
- Some flexibility required as there may be occasional evening or weekend work depending on project timelines.
