Job Description

The OYEP National Operations Support is a hands-on, field-focused role that supports the safe and effective delivery of the Outland Youth Employment Program (OYEP) across multiple program locations.

The Support role is a key part of summer operations through extensive travel to OYEP sites in July and August, providing hands-on assistance to field teams, and helping ensure programs are delivered safely, effectively, and in alignment with OYEP outcomes and funder requirements.

From September to May, the National Operations Support will perform key off-season tasks, including ongoing program improvements, promoting OYEP, conducting outreach, learning Dexterra Group’s processes, reconciling project expenses and deliverables, and managing equipment and inventory. In addition to these core efforts, the Operations Support will collaborate with and support Regional Operations Managers, ensuring their responsibilities remain central to programming.

Preference will be given to candidates located in: Northern Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, or Manitoba. 
 

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Program Support

  • Support the delivery of OYEP operations across multiple sites, working closely with other Operations Managers and site teams to ensure smooth, safe and predictable operations.
  • Act as senior field based operational lead at OYEP sites during the summer program season.
  • Assist with pre-season, in-season, and post-season operations planning and continuous improvement, including fleet management, camp infrastructure management, safety planning and response, inventory tracking and management and other tasks as requested.  
  • Support Regional Operations Managers with program planning activities.
  • Engage in outreach and advocacy efforts where and when requested.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts, reviewing and refining program practices and communicating/implementing Dexterra Group policies and procedures.

Safety Leadership

  • Act as a safety leader, promoting and reinforcing a strong culture of safety across all OYEP sites.
  • Support field teams in meeting company safety policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Participate in safety planning, incident follow-up, and continuous improvement of safe work practices.
  • Model safe work behaviors and ensure safety expectations are consistently communicated and upheld.

Staffing & Youth Engagement

  • Support seasonal staff and youth hiring and onboarding, including outreach, career fairs, community engagement, contracts, and internal documentation.
  • Work closely with administration to ensure participant and seasonal staff contracts, training requirements, and documentation are completed and tracked.
  • Provide support and guidance to Field Supervisors as they oversee day-to-day site operations.

Partnerships & Stakeholder Relations

  • Support the development and maintenance of relationships with communities, Indigenous partners, private industry, government, and other organizations.
  • Assist with partner coordination related to curriculum development, training delivery, and program enhancements.
  • Participate in community engagement, reporting, and stakeholder meetings as needed.

Financial, HR & Administrative Support

  • Become familiar with internal financial processes, budgets, and funding parameters related to year-round and seasonal operations.
  • Support tracking of program deliverables tied to funding and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with reporting requests and data collection as required.

Education & Participant Tracking

  • Support pre-season cooperative education processes, including coordination with schools and follow-up on transcripts and credit documentation.
  • Support Post season credit granting administration and coordination with Youth and High Schools.
  • Maintain communication and tracking related to current and former OYEP
    participants.

Communications & Outreach

  • Assist with OYEP social media accounts by gathering content, vetting information, and supporting posting and engagement.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education from an accredited college or university in a related field such as Education, Social Sciences, Outdoor Recreation, Indigenous Relations, or Project Management.
  • Experience working in operations, field-based programs, or supporting distributed teams.
  • Experience coordinating staff, schedules, and logistics in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience working with large vehicles, trailers, and other equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-developed organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage fluctuating workloads and shifting priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to safety.
  • Complete a Vulnerable Sectors Check
  • Full drivers license and cleaning driving record.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle.

Physical Requirements

Be able to handle the following physical demands:

Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
Climb ladders or stairs
Stand, walk, squat, kneel, or sit according to task for extended periods
Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
Perform work with arms extended or above shoulder height
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Working Conditions

In office/remote September to June.

Extensive travel required during the summer program season (July–August), with 100% field presence during 24/7 Operations and requires adherence to safety protocols and procedures.

Additional travel (up to 15%) outside of the summer months for recruitment, stakeholder engagement, community meetings, and program support.
